ABOUT US
Indoor Climbing
When it is too cold and wet to climb outdoors HRFC climb every Monday on the climbing
wall at the St. Leonards Academy in Hastings. Club members also visit climbing walls at
Brighton, Shoreham, Crowborough or Crawley most weeks and there are regular trips by
club members to the White Spider in Kingston and The Reach in south-east London.
Outdoor Climbing
Once the weather improves and evenings become lighter we climb
every Wednesday and most weekends on the sandstone crags south of
Tunbridge Wells including Harrisons, Bowles and High Rocks. Weekend
day trips to Swanage and Portland are common
throughout the summer months.
Walking
The club has an active walking
section and organises regular
day and evening walks in
Sussex. Members will also be
seen out walking in the hills
on club trips (see below.)
Social Activities
We organise regular social activities
including summer and winter
barbecues, parties and cinema trips.
We have an annual dinner in
November
normally organised
around a weekend
away.
Club Trips
We regularly organise trips both in the UK
and abroad. Annual visits to the Peaks,
North Wales, bouldering at Fontainebleau
and a winter week in the Scottish
Highlands. Recent years have also seen
trips to the Alps, Cornwall, Clécy and the
Old Men of Stoer and Hoy in Scotland.
